2010 Olympic Winter Games: February 12-28, 2010
2010 Paralympic Winter Games: March 12-21, 2010
From February 12-28, 2010, Whistler will host a total of 46 medal events at three Whistler Olympic Venues:
Bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton events at the Whistler Sliding Centre near Base 2 of Blackcomb Mountain
Alpine skiing events at Whistler Creekside
Biathlon, cross-country skiing, Nordic combined, and ski jumping events at Whistler Olympic Park/Paralympic Park in the Callaghan Valley.
During the Games, Whistler will also be the site of memorable Celebration Sites programming, including entertainment throughout Whistler Village during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
From March 12-21, 2010, Whistler will host 90 per cent of the more than 62 medal events for the 2010 Paralympic Winter Games. Alpine skiing events will be held at Whistler Creekside and biathlon and cross-country skiing competitions will be held at the Whistler Olympic/Paralympic Park.
The Whistler Celebration Plaza will also be the site of the Closing Ceremony for the 2010 Paralympic Games.
Whistler is the first community ever to receive the designation as Host Mountain Resort and is proud to be partnering with VANOC and the City of Vancouver, Host City for the 2010 Winter Games.
Whistler is involved in preparations now to host a spectacular Games. The 2010 Winter Games will showcase the resort community, and provide lasting legacies for the community, and will support Whistler as it continues to move towards a sustainable future.
