Art on the Lake: Ancient Cedars - Cedar Bark Harvesting and Traditional Basket Weaving

On the first day participants will venture into the forest with instructor Cheryl Massey to harvest cedar bark. On the second day you will be in the beautiful Alta Lake Station House preparing the cedar bark and will learn twill and twining techniques, with the addition of tule rush, to create a rectangular basket. The Salomon Whistler Summer Trail Series is a 3 stage series consisting of all the building steps to be a successful trail runner. It will provide all the tools necessary to help runners have the confidence to run all types of trails and have the knowledge to approach them with ease. The 3-part series can be run continuously, or drop-in as schedules permit. Stage One: Ready, Get Fit, Run is free of charge. It will be an in-store purpose built alpine training session which will focus on core muscle groups to wake the muscles up from hibernation and get ready to run. During this stage, you will provided vital information on recovery, importance of stretching and proper gear. The classes will be run by an experienced trainer directing the group into “run ready” condition by the end of the 5 weeks.

Nimby Fifty XC Mountain Bike Race

The race is approximately 37 kilometers in length and boasts a lung busting 101 switch-back climb (a long pristine single-track climb). This isn't your typical cross-country race. The Nimby Fifty is what one might refer to as a technical marathon cross-country bike race, which means it is loaded with incredible singletrack.
